How do I move KeySuite to a new PC?

The current version of KeySuite is not backwards-compatible with some older versions of KeySuite. If you do not already have the current version of KeySuite installed on your old/original PC and Handheld, before installing KeySuite on your New PC you will need to install the current version of KeySuite on your old PC and Handheld and HotSync at least one time in order to avoid data loss. KeySuite 3.5 is the current version and you may log into your user account at http://www.chapura.com/downloads_updates.php to download the software again.

Once you have HotSynced successfully with the current version of KeySuite on your old PC, you may then download and install the current version of KeySuite on the new PC.
  1. Install the current version of KeySuite on your old PC and HotSync.
  2. Install KeySuite on the new PC.
  3. HotSync at your new PC. If Outlook on your new PC is running on a network and is accessing the same Exchange Server Mailbox as your old PC, your folder links should automatically synchronize and no other steps are needed. If this is not the case, continue.
  4. Answer "Yes" to the following message when it appears at the end of the HotSync: "KeySuite has detected new handheld folders that are not being synchronized at this PC. Would you like to set up KeySuite to synchronize these folders at this PC?"
  5. From the KeySuite "Folder Settings" window that opens, highlight the first folder link titled "Not linked to Outlook at this PC" and click the "Link Folder" button on the bottom of the screen. Hint: You may choose not to link one or more of the folders listed, allowing you to keep that set of records on the handheld, preventing them from transferring at this PC.
  6. From the "Choose Outlook Folder" window, highlight the Outlook folder that will be synchronized. After choosing the desired folder, click "Next".
  7. From the "Choose Permanent HotSync Action" screen, choose either "Two-Way synchronization" or "Handheld overwrites Outlook"
  8. If prompted with the "Conflict Resolution" window, choose the desired method to resolve conflicts when the same item has been edited on both Outlook and the handheld. Click "Next" and "Finish". For more information, please see Chapura FAQ KS028 Title "How do I specify how conflicts are resolved in KeySuite applications?"
  9. From the "Folder Settings" window, use the above steps to configure any additional folder links titled "Not Linked to Outlook at this PC".
  10. On the new PC, after all folder links have been set up click "Done", "OK", and "Done".
  11. Synchronize your handheld at again at the new PC. If you receive no errors, you are done.
